Our planet is losing its land , according to research

Image
The threats to the islands are twofold. In the long term, the rising seas threaten to inundate the islands entirely.

More immediately, as seas rise, the islands will more frequently deal with large waves that crash farther onto the shore, contaminating their drinkable water supplies with ocean saltwater, according to the research.

The islands' face climate-change-driven threats to their water supplies "in the very near future," according to the study published in the journal Science Advances.

The study focused on a part of the Marshall Islands in the equatorial Pacific Ocean. Hilda Heine, president of the Marshall Islands, said in an interview that Wednesday's journal article "brings home the seriousness" of the predicament facing her island nation.

The research also has ramifications for the US military, whose massive Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site sits, in part, on the atoll island of Roi-Namur - a part of the Marshall Islands and the focus…

Dark Moments of the Soul - dealing with despair.

Image
A long time friend had said something that cut deep. Holding the bottle, the thought that came to my mind was, “I could drink this!”

The thought was serious, but just for a moment. I was hurt, tired, and so discouraged that despair seemed to rush in. I’ve never forgotten that moment and have never told anyone until now. Maybe it is so vivid because my normal view of life is optimistic. I often tell people, “I don’t have problems, I have opportunities…”

Despair can have many sources and can be more profound combined with other factors. A friend’s 18 year old daughter attempted to take her life. The combination for her was the knee operation that took her out of her last year of high school sports, the friend who had criticized her harshly, a broken relationship, alcohol, and physical/emotional tiredness. Late one night, after everyone went to bed, she picked up her pain medication and downed the whole bottle. Fortunately for her and my friend, despair did not win. Others are not so f…

The Fulani herdsmen go about with heavy weapons killing innocent people and never a day has any one of them been harassed by the military.

There are instances where the military have even assisted them to carry out their attacks on Defenseless citizens. The soldiers we have in this country are one sided.

Why are they trying to divide the very country they are called to defend on religious line. Would they have done this to an imam or the mosque.

Pharmacists in Nigeria have lost confidence in the leadership of the Health Minister, Prof. Isaac Adewole, President of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Pharm. Ahmed Yakasai has said.

Speaking with newsmen at a media parley organised to mark the 2018 World Malaria Day, held at the PSN office in Lagos on Wednesday, Pharm Yakasai said the health minister has been acting as if he was minister of medical doctors alone, rather than working to protect the interest of all professionals in the health sector.

The PSN helmsman said what pharmacists and other health workers currently on strike want is equity and not equality, noting that without fairness, equity and justice to all health professionals in the health sector, it will be impossible to stop the spate of unwholesome strike action by health workers in Nigeria.

Image
Former President, Goodluck Jonathan has replied his critics who accused him of handing over a nation at the verge of collapse to his successor, President Muhammadu Buhari.

Rep Kingsley Chinda Calls For The Impeachment of President Buhari.

Image
House of Reps is currently in a rowdy session over calls for impeachment of President Buhari by Rep Kingsley Chinda over illegal withdrawal of $462 million to pay for 12 Tucano jets without NASS approval.

this is corruption and looting...

The current cost of same Tucano jets bought and deployed in Afghanistan is still  $10.47m per jet as at today.

But Buhari approved $469m instead of $125.64m for 12 pieces to be delivered in 2020, thereby increasing the cost of one jet to $39m with Nigeria losing $343.36m in the deal.

Yet all done without budgetary allocations for it and without National Assembly approval.

He said, “‎My self and the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and others were to be on an official trip to Morocco but while some have gone through the Lagos airport today, others are to depart tomorrow.

“I got to this airport I was checked in and was already in the lounge waiting for departure. Rice Importation was banned from lagos border then opened northern borders for rice importation with motorcycle.

Now they opened Niger Republic border and have been importing Rice from the northern borders and have it repackaged.

If you look at the long queue of Motorcyclists transporting Rice to Kastina State, you can confirm that in a day, 6 Trailer loads are being offloaded every day.
Hypocrisy is indeed a deadly cankerworm eating so deeply into the Nigerian fabric.

Yet they'd call themselves saints, releasing so-called perceived politically hunted enemies as "looters", just to pave way for their continued ineptitude while covering their dirty dealings and terming the great "future and pillars" of our society.

President Buhari is useless - Yoweri Museveni of Uganda.

Image
Buhari is the most useless President that ever happens to that great country Nigeria... A leader should not expose his citizens, Nigeria is a great and an outstanding country in Africa because of the youth of that country.
Our people have an Africanized social life all over Africa is because Nigerian youth put their full hardworking efforts look at the movie industry and most outstanding the music industry.

Buhari can never outgrow the slave and master mentality, He keeps talking bad about his people any time he makes a trip. Britain is there to exploit and steal just what they are known for. He seizes to understand that Britain created that country and gave it all the flaws that will never make it grow beyond a limit.

Nigerians will vote him out it is obvious there is nothing Britain can do about it... If he Tries to annul or rig the election he will face a wide loss of legitimacy Nigerians are patiently waiting to send him back to retirement.

PRESIDENT BUHARI vs NIGERIAN YOUTH

Image
Speaking at the Common Wealth Business Forum in Westminster on April 18, 2018, Buhari said :

"Nigerian youths are lazy, uneducated; and don't like to do any work because they believe their country is an oil-rich  nation, thus always wanting  free oil money "

Sir, you are absolutely correct. One of the lazy Nigerian youths who is enjoying free oil money had an accident with the power bike he bought with free oil money not too long ago, and he was flown abroad for treatment with free oil money, then he hired a jet with free oil money from London to Abuja after his treatment.

Sir, we Nigerian Youth completely agree with you that the Nigerian youths are lazy and uneducated and always wanting free oil money. Their role models are in Aso Rock enjoying free oil money without even solving any security or economic problem for the country. When they are ill, they fly abroad for medical vacation with free oil money.

Why would anyone disagree with you that the Nigerian youths are…

kpo-fire Contribute to the development of soot.

Image
Further discovery to the development of Soot  activities and it's end products is called kpo-fire (a slang used to describe illegal oil bunkering business ) operators who carry out their illicit activities not only to cause soot but in a way help solve common lack of the ordinary man.

The Federal government now sees the soot as a problem forgetting they also attributed to the causes of soot.

If the demand of Kerosene that  Diesel are made affordable with easy access at filling station, we think soot will end.
FG, itself failed at their own Refineries, these causes the youth to venture into illegal refining. Don't we think the masses sees this product cheap and affordable, making illegal refiners stay in refining business.

instead of setting ablaze tankers caught with stolen petroleum product or some security operatives extort  huge amount from the said illegal refiners that it is better to approve license for Modular Refineries for these enterprise youths .

There'll Be Chaos If We Don't Continue with Estimated Bill - NEPA

Image
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has claimed that there will be chaos in the power sector if the National Assembly criminalises the issuance of estimated bills by power distribution companies to unmetered customers.

According to NERC, a regulation that deals with estimated billing already exists in the power sector, stressing that another law on the matter may lead to a complete disorder in the industry.

The House of Reps recently commenced moves to outlaw estimated billing of consumers by electricity distribution firms after the presentation of a bill sponsored by the House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, which sought to prohibit the issuance of such bills to consumers across the country.

Reacting to the move by the House during the April 2018 Power Dialogue organised by Nextier Power in Abuja on Wednesday night, the Commissioner, Finance and Management Services, NERC, Nathan Shatti, said the commission had met with the lawmaker who sponsored the bill to explain why it would no…

Image
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on those planning to demonstrate against the presence of soot to channel their protest to the Federal Government.

Fruits and Vegetables for Bright Eyes and Healthy Smiles.

Image
The nutrients in fruits and vegetables will do wonders for your health, and we’d like to talk about a few that are especially good for your oral and vision health. In the summer, we recommended the seasonal picks of strawberries, apples and watermelons, so we’ve got them covered. Now here’s a few more fruits and vegetables to add to your menu:

Celery – A good source for vitamins A and C. Vitamin A protects the surface of your eye (the cornea). Vitamin C, evidence suggests, lowers the risk of cataracts. Added bonus of celery – it works as a natural toothbrush! When you bite down on celery, its texture scrubs the surface of your teeth, brushing away food particles and plaque.

Leafy greens – Spinach, kale and other leafy greens contain calcium, important for healthy bones and teeth. Calcium helps strengthen your enamel. Leafy greens also contain lutein and zeaxanthin. These antioxidants can reduce the risk of some eye diseases like cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). O…

I Am not preoccupied with the 2019 election- Buhari.

Image
President Buhari yesterday said he is not pre-occupied with the 2019 election in which he has indicated interest to run for a second term.

Many Nigerians think Buhari has not lived up to expectations, less than one year to the next election. But his supporters say he's doing his best based on what he met when he took over power.

He told British Prime Minister Mrs. Theresa May in London that he is more concerned about his administration’s three-point programme than the forthcoming election.

The President declared his second term bid before travelling to the United Kingdom last Monday.

At a bilateral meeting with May at 10, Downing Street, London yesterday, Buhari said he could not afford to lose concentration on the economy, security and the anti-corruption war.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and publicity, Femi Adesina, the President said “We campaigned on three major issues – to secure the country, revive the economy and fight corruption. We have elections next year, …

Aisha Yesufu insisted that President Buhari was part of those “wicked people” that kept Nigerians in poverty.

Image
The activist made the remark while reacting to Buhari’s claim that “wicked people kept Nigerians poor.”

Buhari had said this while receiving a delegation of the Buhari Diaspora Support Organisation led by Mr Charles Sylvester in London, on Sunday.

The President, had, however, noted that looking at the condition in which his administration met the country, without savings and the economy badly vandalised, “we have not done too badly.”

However, Yesufu, who frowned at the president’s remark, wondered why he never lend his voice to the issues of education, immunization, almajiri and girl brides.

In a tweet, she maintained that Buhari focused more on himself.

“President Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari Is one of those wicked people that kept HIS people poor. Never for once did I hear his voice on issues of education, immunisation, almajiri, girl brides.

“He focused coldly on himself. These might not readily give him votes if addressed,” she tweeted.
