Emir Sanusi's Probe Stopped By Kano Assembly After Osinbajo, IBB Intervened

The Kano State House of Assembly has called off its investigation of alleged misappropriation of funds and other infractions by the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi.

The House resolved to drop the probe following a plea through a letter by the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, which was read by the speaker, Kabiru Alhassan Rirum, on the floor of the House.

On Sunday, a coalition of civil society groups in the state had also joined in calling on the legislators to stop the exercise.

In his letter, Governor Ganduje said he was calling for the investigation to be dropped as a result of interventions by highly-placed personalities in the matter.

These personalities, according to the letter, include the acting president, Yemi Osinbajo; party leaders; former heads of state Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar; Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar; and top businessmen and indigenes of the state, Aliko Dangote and Aminu Dantata.

Mr. Ganduje said although he was reluctant to interfere in the…

Open Letter to Aisha Yesufu, woman who called on Buhari to resign over his Health

By Lauretta Onochie, social media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari:

Dear Aisha Yesufu,
I do hope you are feeling a bit better than you did at the point you had a meltdown or better still, a recorded video nervous breakdown, over a government Nigerians say is serving them better.

Most Nigerians were shocked and are still confused at your tantrum.
Nigerians understood and identified with your frustration at not being able to get the government of Pres. Jonathan to take responsibilities for the missing girls.

Nigerians and the whole world were with you and the rest of the #BBOG campaign team. I joined in the UK, helping to drum up support internationally, for the campaign to free our girls.

But your childish tantrum and incoherent ranting at Pres. Buhari were totally uncalled for especially as it is less than two weeks since 83 of the Chibok girls, gained their freedom, under the government of Muhammadu Buhari and yes, Acting President Osinbajo.

Over the nearly two years since the inception…

We will resist any coup attempt- Bola Tinubu warns military

National leader of APC, Bola Tinubu, has vowed that Nigerians will resist any coup attempt by any section of the military. Bola Tinubu said this against the backdrop of rumors of some politicians having clandestine meetings with some military officers in a bid to take over power since President Buhari is away for medical checkup.

Recall that last week, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Ge. Tukur Buratai, released a statement in which he warned Army officers to steer clear politics.

Reacting to the rumor, the APC chieftain said Lagos in particular will resist any coup attempt. Tinubu said this when he spoke at the Parliamentary Session at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Alausa, Ikeja, being orgainzed as part of activities in commemoration of Lagos@50 and second anniversary of the 8th Assembly of the Assembly.

“I want to add my voice to that warning of coup attempt. They should not try it, those who want to break the democracy that many died for. You will have no fertile ground to plant the…

How Men Choose the Woman They're Going to Marry

How do you get a guy to pop the question? You may be incredibly sexy and great in bed. We may have sex with you both morning and night. And we may remember you fondly. However, this is not enough to marry you. In fact, it has little, if nothing, to do with it. The reason men marry women happens outside the bedroom. Now, you're wondering how to get him to marry you? Simple. We marry women who can make us better men. It starts out when we notice that our car is cleaner and our house is cleaner. But then it goes deeper than that. A noble quality comes over us and we want to take care of you. We want to know where you are. We care about the condition of your car and we make sure you have enough gas. Little things we never thought about become important. We care about how you feel, not just how you look. As a woman, you may be thinking, "That sounds great! How do I make it happen?" The truth is there's nothing you can do to make it happen. However, you can allow it to happ…

Is Eating Dinner Past 8PM Really That Bad?

Photo credit: ELLE More From Elle. Last night, I ate dinner at 10pm. It's not that I forgot about dinner–trust me, I'm always thinking about my next meal–I had a work event, then an hour trek back home, then an hour wait for Seamless (because I'm lazy), so it just happened. It's not that uncommon of an occurrence for me. Lately, however, I've started to wonder: Is eating a late dinner bad for me? There's an overload of information out there regarding dinnertime: One widely circulated study covered in Science of Us says an early dinner (as early as 2pm) or skipping dinner altogether can increase the amount of fat you burn; another one finds that eating dinner after 7pm increases risk for heart attack; yet another study said eating at night could be good if it's carbs, because that may help you control your appetite throughout the next day; another says eating dinner at 10pm makes you consume 248 more calories a day than those who eat earlier. I could go on a…

Rumour Has it that; Politicians hire marabouts, pastors to pray for Buhari to die

President Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, has alleged that some members of the political elite in Nigeria travelled to Niger Republic, India and other countries to hire marabouts to ensure the President dies.

She claimed that same set of people also engaged pastors and bishops to pray for the President’s death, she also claimed that the religious leaders resorted to attacking Buhari when he did not die despite their prayers.

Onochie disclosed this on her Facebook page just as the President’s latest medical vacation entered its second week.

But she did not disclose the identities of the politicians and the pastors she claimed were hired.

The woman said there must be a reason why the politicians did not want to see Buhari in power.

She said that was why they rigged him out in his first three shots at the Presidency and now they wanted him dead after he got his victory at the 2015 presidential election with the support of the card readers introduced by INEC.

Female Student: "lecturer impregnated me, rejects pregnancy | Lecturer: "I used condom"

A lecturer at Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese Ijebu, Dr Oluseyi Adu, and a Dental Nursing student, Mosunmola, are embroiled in a row over who is responsible for the pregnancy that the nursing student is carrying.

Mosunmola, who is nine months pregnant, alleged that Dr. Adu was responsible for the child in her womb, adding that they had s*x in a hotel sometime in August, 2016.

She said the lecturer beat her up last month when she confronted him at the college for avoiding her, adding that the case was already at the Ilese Police Station.

However, while Dr. Adu admitted to having s*x with the 28-year-old, he insisted that he used contraceptive, saying the lady seduced him and he gave in to the temptation.

Mosunmola told The Punch that she underwent a 3-year course at the college, adding that several lecturers had asked her out before Dr. Adu, but she refused.

She said, “Dr Adu is the Oral Health Coordinator for the college. During my three years study, he taught me two c…

Man killed as 3 brothers fight for control of Banana Junction Motor Park

The battle between three siblings over the leadership of Banana Junction motor park at Amaifeke in Orlu Council Area of Imo State turned tragic when a stray bullet allegedly fired by a policeman killed a passerby identified as one Remigius Enwerem.

The police team was allegedly brought by the Ozioma and Ozoemena Agubata group to apparently dislodge the boys of their younger brother Nkeonyere from the park.

It was gathered that the battle for control of the park between the three siblings started in February when another innocent passer-by was also hit by a stray bullet when the siblings also clashed. But it was learnt that Nkeonyere Agubata had spent his personal money to treat the gunshot victim to save his life.

It was further learnt that the two elder brothers, who allegedly have the backing of another local strongman (names withheld), were not comfortable with their younger brother’s control of the motor park. With the ardent backing of the local strongman, Ozioma and Ozoemena storm…

Chief Rochas Okorocha Okorocha made this statement in a release to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, yesterday, in Owerri.

According to the release, Governor Okorocha spoke when the Executive Secretary of the National Commission on Colleges of Education, Prof. Aliyu Muhammadu, led a delegation from the body to pay him courtesy visit  at the Government House, Owerri.

The 'alien megastructure' star -suddenly kicked into gear again

The strangest star in the Universe has suddenly kicked into gear again, with researchers reporting that its light has started dimming in bizarre ways - just like it did two years ago when it baffled scientists with its irregular light emissions.

This time around, we get to watch the investigation in action, because over the weekend, astronomers started freaking out on Twitter, telling everyone with a telescope big enough to train in on the star and help them figure out what's actually going on here.

"As far as I can tell, every telescope that can look at it right now is looking at it right now," astronomer Matt Muterspaugh from Tennessee State University told Loren Grush at The Verge.

First discovered in 2009, the 'alien megastructure' star - known officially as KIC 8462852, or Tabby's star - is located about 1,500 light-years away, between the Cygnus and Lyra constellations of the Milky Way galaxy.

In late 2015, a team of astronomers led by Tabetha Boyajian f…
