Sanusi Lamido sacks Kano emirate council’s secretary, Ado Bayero for betrayal

The Mohammed Sanusi led Kano emirate council has sacked its acting secretary, Alhaji Isa Ado Bayero a longstanding associate and confidant of late emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero. 
According to a report by Vanguard, 'a source told our correspondent that Ado Bayero has been on the watch list of the emirate Council as a figure believed to have allegedly divulged classified documents'.
Speaking further, the source said “Emir Muhammad Sunusi II has no choice to boot him out owing solely to the way and manner classified documents to the emirate became public documents overnight”.

5 men killed in Mozambique linked to new superstitious belief that bald men have gold in their head

A new superstitious belief has emerged in some remote area in Mozambique, that bald men have gold in their head.
Authorities in Mozambique say five bald men have been killed in central Mozambique, two in May in Milange district, close to the border with Malawi, while three were killed this month in Morrumbala district in the country.
According to the police, two young people have so far been arrested over the killings.

BBC reports that after the killings, the heads are taken to a witch doctor who will use magical powers to extract the gold and make them rich.

Mozambique police spokesman Inacio Dina confirmed the killing of men with bald saying a team had been sent to the remote region to investigate the murders:

Zari Hassan given the mandate to manage her billionaire ex-husband’s empire

Ugandan socialite, Zari Hassan, has been given authority to manage the business empire of her deceased ex-husband, Ivan Semwanga, who died last month.
The decision was reached after a lengthy meeting at Ivan’s home in Uganda on Saturday and was attended by Zari and the deceased’s family including his closest friend, Godfrey Kirumira.
According to Ugandan celebrity website Sqoop, the meeting suggested that Zari takes care of her Ivan’s Brooklyn schools together with other colleges in South Africa.
The socialite was also told to rent out one of his houses in South Africa as a way to financially support the three sons she had with him, while the other house is where Zari and the boys will live.

Despite a 13 yr age gap between them, Hugh Jackman, 48, and his wife, Deborah-Lee Furness, 61, are still going strong 21yrs after tying the knot. By-election to replace late Senator Adeleke will hold on July 8 - INEC

Independent National​ Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed July 8, 2017 for Osun-West Senatorial District bye-election to elect a new senator for the constituency following  the death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke.

A notice by INEC’s Administrative Secretary in Osun, Mr Ademusire, in Osogbo said the conduct of parties’ primaries would commence on Tuesday through June 14 while the election would hold on July 8. The notice stated that bye-election was scheduled “consequent upon the position of the enabling status that bye-elections to fill the declared vacant seat by the National Assembly be conducted within 30 days upon the declaration.

The attachment to the notice however indicated that last day of submission of party nomination form is June 15, publication of nominated candidate’s names, June 22 and submission of names and addresses of party agents to INEC officer, June 30.

French woman sues France for air pollution

A 56-year-old Parisian woman is suing the French state for failing to protect her health from the bad effects of air pollution in Paris.

Clotilde Nonnez, a yoga teacher who said she has lived in the Country's capital for 30 years claims that her health deteriorated. She said she increasingly suffered from respiratory problems, ranging from chronic asthma to pneumonia.

According to her, it became worse than ever when pollution in Paris hit record levels last December prompting her existing bronchial condition into acute pericarditis attack.

Speaking to France Info website, she said: "The doctor treating me says Paris air is so polluted that we're breathing rotten air. She has other patients like me, including children and babies too. My cardiologist says the same,"

India hits back at Donald Trump over his statement on climate change

India has hit back at US President Donald Trump, after he accused the country of receiving "billions" of dollars in return for signing the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
India's Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj said, 'first of all, there is absolutely no reality in what Trump alleged. India signed the Paris agreement not because of pressure from any country nor greed.
We signed the agreement because of our commitment to protecting the environment."

Trump had singled out India during a speech last week outlining his decision to end US involvement in the landmark climate deal saying,

    'India makes its participation contingent on receiving billions and billions and billions of dollars in foreign aid from developed countries".

Niger Delta communities hail NDDC for intervention projects

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has been commended for its various intervention projects across the Niger Delta region.

In a joint statement signed by twenty members of the Niger Delta Volunteer for Peace and Development, representing Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta communities in Imo State, the group highlighted "the quick response of the NDDC in reconstructing the access road to ADAPALM via the ADAPALM-Ebekwuru road, as well as the reconstruction of the access road to the famous Oguta Lake Motel Resort and access road from Uli (Onitsha-Owerri Expressway) to Osemoto."

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, received the Togolese President and newly elected Chairman of ECOWAS, Mr. Faure Gnassingbe at the Presidential Villa today, assuring him of Nigeria’s support to him and the regional body.
