New survey says Nigerians will vote middle-aged Presidential candidates in 2019

A new survey conducted by NOIPolls and Business Day Media has showed that Nigerians would prefer middle-aged candidates for the country’s 2019 presidential elections.

According to the poll, 64% of Nigerians say they would prefer to vote for a presidential candidate between the ages of 40 and 50 years; while 15% say they would make do with candidates whose ages ranged between 51 and 60 years...

I will run for president in 2019- Fayose

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, says he will run for president in 2019. Fayose disclosed this when he spoke with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Friday. He said:

"I have defeated two incumbent governors in two different attempts. So, defeating the All Progressives Congress in the coming presidential election would be a walkover. Many did not believe that I can come back as governor of Ekiti State after eight years. I don’t know how God did it. This time, I am going to the presidency. God is taking me there but I don’t know how. I have penchant for taking powers; that one in Buhari’s hand. I would take it. I’m going straight to that Villa. I’m the next president. I want to be the next president of Nigeria. My own won’t be this change that has brought nothing. We are going to represent the people well and tell them the truth" he said.

Death toll of the London Tower fire rises to 30

The death toll from the Grenfell tower fire tragedy has risen to at least 30 and police are considering whether criminal offences had been committed, MET Police Commander Stuart Cundy said on Friday.

"We know that at least 30 people have died as a result of this fire," said Cundy, adding that the figure was expected to rise.

"The bodies have been taken to a morgue, but more bodies remain in the building. We always knew that the death toll would increase."

He added that 24 people were still in hospital and 12 were receiving critical care.

"The investigation will look  into what criminal offences may have been committed," Cundy said.

Asked why it is taking so long to identify the victims, he said:

"I do believe the number will rise, the building is in a hazardous condition." adding that he would only give figures the police are certain about.

Why I'm Optimistic In An Unsafe, Unanchored World

I hit my limit yesterday of negative news. Scrolling through my feed these days – and probably yours too – is a land mine of rhetorical blasts, accusation, hate and division.

I’m pretty sure folks in my own congregation unfriended each other over the last election. The constant stream of news can leave me feeling pretty gloomy: Bombings. Unrest. Intolerance. Forced tolerance. Shootings. Bullying. Gender confusion. Scandals. Immigration. Predators.

We have kids we’re raising in this climate and then launching into this landscape.

It’d be easy to take one look around and lose all heart. Just wring our hands over what this world’s coming to and – now that I’m old enough – wish for what it was like in the good old days.

But these are our days. THIS is the exact epoch and precise generation in which God has planted us and our children. And despite the ongoing tumult of this world and the downhill slide of values, I’m optimistic.

1. I’m optimistic because ours is a spiritual kingdom not an eart…

Lawyer Escapes Kidnappers While Travelling; "I Am A Survivor"

A lucky barrister has shared his experience after his encounter with kidnappers while traveling from Jos to Abuja on Tuesday. Read what he shared below:
Yesterday I was en route Jos from Abuja for a matter I have in the Federal High Court this morning, I encountered armed robbers / assassins / kidnappers who immediately opened fire on our vehicle somewhere after Barde, Southern Kaduna at about 6:40 pm.

Initially I thought I was in a trance or dreaming.
No this looked like a movie scene, until I saw a 'SUPERMAN' heavily armed to the teeth standing right in the front of our vehicle with others positioned at strategic points in the road firing shots sporadically left, right, center and even behind us with AK47 rifles. All of them had guns and sophisticated ammunition.

Our driver immediately alerted everyone in the car to keep our heads down and then continued on a very high speed despite the shots that were being fired at us.

All of a sudden, we saw the Mercedes ML SUV that was in o…

Why Outrage Is Not The Best Response To Disagreement

Throughout history, every country and culture has had opposing political, social, and cultural forces, and people have subsequently given allegiance to one side or the other. Today, with the whole online community, arguments and stark difference of opinion is more prevalent than ever.
Relevant Magazine contributor Brandon W. Peach calls this phenomenon the “culture of outrage” in his article “Is Outrage Really Getting Us Anywhere?”

No matter what your views on any one of today’s hot button issues - the U.S.’s current political administration, abortion, same-sex marriage, or various other issues within Christianity and the Church - it would not be difficult to start a debate (especially online) on any one of these topics.

This debate has a high probability of ending in outrage, probably on both sides. Both sides may even make good points and feel that they each have ample cause to be outraged that the other party would even suggest their opposing viewpoint.

Biblically, perhaps one side ma…

How To Overcome The Habit Of Careless Words

“Mom, do you remember that time you called me the devil?” My son posed this question over dinner one night recently. He was home from college out-of-state, and we were enjoying a rare dinner with the entire family. We were laughing and sharing old stories of times gone by. Between mouthfuls of potato salad and barbecue chicken, my young adults were laughing about all the things they had “gotten away with” as teenagers.

The question seemed to come from out of nowhere, and although I laughed it off, it secretly stung a bit, as I remembered an argument we had had some 6 years prior.

In retrospect, it was a small incident at school, but at the time it seemed much bigger and I lost my temper. In the heat of the moment, this exhausted mom screamed hurtful things at my then-teenage son. I instantly regretted them.

It didn’t matter that I had just undergone surgery. It didn’t matter that I was disappointed in his seemingly frequent poor choices. It didn’t matter that I was juggling lots of plate…

US Government Seizes Leonardo DiCaprio Surrenders Oscar..

Leonardo DiCaprio has turned over an Oscar to the federal government. Luckily, it wasn’t the statue he won in 2016 for The Revenant.

The 42-year-old actor was the recipient of gifts allegedly bought with laundered money. The U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section is going after Red Granite Pictures, which was involved in the production of the 2013 DiCaprio film The Wolf of Wall Street.

The production and distribution company reportedly gifted Leo an Oscar that Marlon Brando won in 1955 for his performance in On the Waterfront.

Red Granite was sued in a civil lawsuit last year, and was cited in a new government filing this week. The feds are looking to seize a number of other assets, including the rights to Jim Carrey’s Dumb and Dumber To and Daddy’s Home, which stars Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, as well as valuable art and movie memorabilia belonging to Red Granite, some of which was reportedly gifted to Leo for charity auctions benefitting his Leonardo …

Fani Kayode Says President Buhari Might Be Dead

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode says President Muhammadu Buhari might have passed away.

This is contained in snippets of his latest article he sent to DAILY POST Friday morning.

He said the seeming cover up by the presidency has made Nigerians uncomfortable and dared the government to release images of the president.

The former presidential spokesman said: “The Presidency has told us that Buhari has travelled out of the country yet no-one has seen pictures or footage of him going out of Nigeria or arriving in his preferred destination in a foreign land.

“Assuming that he really did travel out one wonders which country he was ferried to, whether he went there on his feet or on his back and whether he is presently on admission in a hospital or resides in a private or official residence.

“The Presidency claims that he is still alive and we sincerely hope that this is the case.

“Yet many have their doubts simply because it has been proved over and over again that the Federal Gov…
