INEC Releases Schedule For The Recall Of Senator Dino Melaye

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, ​has kicked off recall of the Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye​.
INEC made the disclosure Monday night via its Twitter account, @inecnigeria​.


It ‎​had ​notified the Senator ​of his recall last week.

INEC’s National Commissioner and member Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, made the disclosure in Abuja.

Haruna ​had said INEC would issue a notice to Melaye on July 3, on when it would begin the verification of the signatures of those who signed the petition.

According to Haruna, “INEC has held its regular weekly meeting and considered the petition submitted by whole registered voters from Kogi West senatorial district to kickstart the process of recalling Senator Dino Melaye.

Dogara Says Involvement Of Military In Police Duties In Peace Time Alarming

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has said with the deployment of the Armed Forces to more than 28 States of the Federation in peacetime, Nigeria is effectively permanently in a state of emergency.
This is just as he added that rather than complement civil authorities in maintaining law and order in the country, the Nigerian Armed Forces have now become civil authorities on their own, carrying out routine duties of police.

The Speaker made the remarks at a capacity/ Interactive Needs Assessment Workshop of Security Sector Related Committees in the House of Representatives, organised in collaboration with Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre.

Making reference to Section 217 of the 1999 constitution, the speaker described as alarming, a situation where Nigerian Armed forces are deployed to 28 states despite the country being at peace time.

I dont know if this is a recent Interview because she looks different however it still remains that what she says here either before or after the book was published still contradicts what she wrote.....
