Professor Chike Princewill Announces The Outbreak Of MonkeyPox In Port Harcourt.

Rivers state government has confirmed the outbreak of three suspected cases of  monkey pox disease in port Harcourt.

The state commissioner for health professor Chike princewill announced this today while briefing Journalists in port Harcourt.

The rivers state commissioner for health explained that the three cases were  discovered thursday night at  rumoulumeni, Eneka and psychiatric Road areas of port Harcourt.

Five Controlling Facts About Monkey pox.

As you have probably heard, there is an ongoing outbreak of Monkeypox in Bayelsa.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control released a statement urging everyone to remain calm but vigilant and to know what the symptoms are.

Monkeypox is a viral infection that is similar to smallpox and cowpox. Even though rare, it can cause a serious illness in humans.

The reason why it’s named monkeypox is because it was first discovered among some isolated monkey colonies in Denmark in 1958.

It was not known to affect humans until 1970, when it was discovered in a 9 year old boy in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Since then, there have been some human outbreaks mainly in West and Central Africa.

After a person is infected, it takes about 1-2 weeks before the person would show any symptoms. Some symptoms of monkeypox infection are:

Muscle ache
Enlarged lymph nodes (small bean-like organs that help us fight diseases).

Akwa Ibom 'World Class' Hospital Shut Down.

A new investigative report has revealed that the multi-billion Naira Ibom Specialist Hospital in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, which was built by Godswill Akpabio, has been shutdown.

The Ibom Specialist Hospital has been shut down just two years after it was built and commissioned by the Godswill Akpabio administration. What happened?

Almost all the health workers in the hospital were foreigners, mostly from India.

Mr. Akpabio had boasted that the hospital, which he described as ‘world class’, was better equipped and higher in status than university teaching hospitals in Nigeria, and that it was going to promote medical tourism in the country.

The multi-million dollar hospital was shut down in September after its private managers terminated their contract with the state government and withdrew from the facility.

When Premium Times visited the hospital on Monday evening, the facility was locked down; apart from the security officials, not a single person was inside its massive buildings…

Minister Of Petroleum Kachikwu In A Closed Door Meeting With President Buhari.

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, is currently in a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Since the leaked letter to the President, this is the first one-on-one meeting between the President and the Minister.

Kachikwu had written to Buhari on the conduct of the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Maikanti Baru.

The Minister arrived the Presidential Villa at about 11.40am for the meeting.
