Parents Create Gender Inequality By Raising Their Children Differently.- Michelle Obama.

Michelle Obama, Former First Lady of United State said at the first Obama Foundation international summit which held on Wednesday, the 1st of November that parents were the ones who created gender inequality by raising their children differently.

She was of the opinion that men are raised to be babies and protected by women , who are brought up to be strong.

The First Lady also asserted that that men are ‘entitled and self-righteous’ because women protect them too much.

The couple’s plans to invite civic leaders to Chicago for a summit was primarily in order for them to exchange ideas and plan ways to solve some of the world’s common problems.

The former president said the summit would bring “hundreds of leaders from all around the world for a hands-on exchange of ideas.” and this is exactly what happened.

Senate President Bukola Saraki Calls For Review Of Scholarship Policy.

...Calls for Review of Scholarship Policy  Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki on Wednesday met with representatives of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) responsible for the welfare of Nigerian Students on scholarships abroad now stranded due to non-payment of their living allowances and tuition fees by relevant agencies.

The Senate in plenary had mandated the President of the Senate to intervene and know why Nigerian students on scholarships in foreign countries are yet to be paid their scholarship funds.

Saraki at the meeting which was attended by the Senate Leader, Deputy Senate Leader, Chairman Senate Committees on Tertiary Education and TETFUND and other Senators directed the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) to urgently present a comprehensive report of all Nigerian students on scholarship abroad and their outstanding entitlements to the relevant committees of the Senate to enable the Senate make Appropriations for their settlement.

Members Of The House Of Reps Protested Against President Muhammadu Buhari's Request.

Members of the House of Reps on Thursday protested as President Muhammadu Buhari requested their permission to present the 2018 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly.

Buhari asked to be allowed to lay the estimates on Tuesday, November 7. His request was contained in a letter that the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, read to members during plenary in Abuja.

At the Senate, the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, read the letter to senators.

At the House, Dogara had hardly completed reading the letter when lawmakers started protesting.

Amid the shouts of “no,” “no,” some members were heard asking, “What about the 2017 budget? Have they implemented the 2017 budget? No, take it back.”

Others also said they would prefer to receive the President by 11am and not 2pm.

But, Dogara reminded the lawmakers that under the constitution, they could not refuse to receive the appropriation bill from the President.

Nigeria recently moved up 24 places to 145 in the World Bank’s Doing Business report. This follows strategic reform initiatives put in place by the government to create an enabling environment to start and grow businesses in Nigeria.

The World Bank Doing Business project provides objective measures of business regulations and their enforcement across 190 economies worldwide.

Prof. 'Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President of Nigeria and Chairman of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) expressed delight at the ranking while commending the efforts of stakeholders who supported the far-reaching reforms being implemented.

“I welcome Nigeria’s improved performance. The Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi Sacks State's Commissioner For Justice.

The Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has sacked the state’s Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Augustine Nwakwoegu.

In a statement on Wednesday evening signed by his Principal Secretary, Clement Nweke, Mr. Umahi said Mr. Nwakwoegu was relieved of his appointment over “acts inconsistent with his official duties."

The statement further directed the former commissioner to hand over government property in his possession to the permanent secretary, ministry of justice before the close of work on Thursday.

The Lagos State Government Appoints SLGs And Supervisors.

The Lagos State Government, on Thursday, announced the appointment of Secretaries to the Local Governments (SLGs) and Supervisors for the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the State.

Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tunji Bello in a statement, said the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, authorised the release of the newly appointed SLGs and Supervisors, in line with the provisions of the Lagos Local Government Administration Law and the Guidelines for Administrative Procedures for Local Government.

He said the appointment of the SLGs and Supervisors will aid the councils to hit the ground running to further deepen democratic values and culture at the grassroots in line with the present administration’s policy thrust of community-based governance and government of inclusion.

EFCC Detains Former Benue Gov. Suswam Over Alleged Looting Of Funds.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Thursday, questioned and detained former Benue Governor, Gabriel Suswam, over his role in the sharing of the state’s share of the N23 billion, which the former Petroleum Minister, Alison Madueke allegedly doled out as bribe to influence the outcome of the last presidential election.

Suswam, who is facing another set of charges over alleged looting of public funds, arrived the premises of the EFCC around 10 amthe waiting arms of operatives, who immediately took him in to answer questions on the N450 million, which the Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party got as its own share of the election booty.

Sources in the commission said the former governor was detained to enable him to tell operatives all that he knew about the N450 million, which he personally collected from a bank and what he did with the amount.

Gov. Okorocha Meets With President Buhari At The State House.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday received the audience of the Imo state Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha at the State House in Abuja.

The governor who was all smiles had a closed-door meeting with the President where they discussed urgent state matters.
