Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo says she would continue to make herself available as a role model to mentor young girls.

The Deputy Governor stated this during a Girl Child Mentorship Programme organized by the Protect the Girl Child Initiative of the Office of the Deputy Governor, at the Government House in Port Harcourt, on Saturday 17th March, 2018.

Dr. Banigo said she is passionate about the Girl Child because “the Education of the Girl Child is key to the socio economic development of the State and the Nation at large I will continue mentor them to have a mindset that would propel them to succeed in life”.

According to her “The Girl Child is very important, her education, her protection and her future. If you look at it from research, the health indices of the educated woman, her children and other family members are always better”.

Wike announced the appointment of Chukwuma as the DG for state vigilante.

A retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dr. Uche Chukwuma has been appointed as the Acting Director General of the Neighbourhood Safety Agency of the Rivers State Government.

Governor Nyesom Wike announced the appointment of Chukwuma a day after signing into law the controversial bill setting up the Neighbourhood Safety Corps.

A statement released by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu indicated that Chukwuma also holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree.

Meanwhile, Wike, has been accused of signing the controversial Neighbourhood Safety Corps Bill into law in breach of legal process.

He was said to have signed the bill into law even after he was served process of a suit against the bill before the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt.

Police Personnel Debunked The Rumor Of Unpaid Salaries.

The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, on Monday debunked reports that that policemen attached to the Presidential Villa, Abuja protested over unpaid allowance since 2015, stressing that none of its personnel is owed salary or allowances.

The Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, CSP Jimoh Moshood, in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, insisted that no personnel of the Force complained over unpaid salary, and that no policeman in the Villa or across the country protested at any time.

“The Force wishes to categorically state that salaries and allowances of Police Personnel across ranks throughout Police Formations, Departments and detachments including those attached to the Presidential Villa are being paid as at when due, and on time.

“Special and ad-hoc duties allowances are also promptly paid on completion of such duties,” the statement read in part.

Moshood stated that, “the report was carefully studied and was found out to be outright falsehood, unfounded, mischievous and fake news.

Heartbroken: Lawmaker representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Senator Ali Wakili, is dead.

Wakili was the Chairman of the Senate committee on Poverty Alleviation, Senator Malam Ali Wakili.

He died at the age of 58.

Special Adviser to the Senate President on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu confirmed the death of the vibrant lawmaker in a phone interview.

He said the Senate President, Bukola Saraki was shocked when he was informed of the passage of the lawmaker.

Sources in the Senate said the lawmaker slumped on Saturday morning at his Gwarimpa, Abuja residence after which he was taken to a hospital within the estate, but he died before getting emergency treatment.

He was a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
