Rivers State Has set up task force to check illegal street Trading.

The Rivers State Executive Council has set up a Special Task Force chaired by the State Governor Nyesom Wike CON, GSSRS to clear illegal traders from major roads and streets  in Port Harcourt and its environs.

The Government notes with sadness the recalcitrance of these street traders who have continuously dared the efforts of government to keep our roads and environment clean. Sadly,  they mess up the environment, litter the roads, cause disorder and contribute nothing by way of tax or otherwise to clean their mess.

Consequently, from Thursday 12th April, 2018 the Governor of Rivers State will lead members of the Special Task Force,  in the first phase of their mandate, to flush illegal traders from the roads and affected streets and restore normalcy. The exercise will be a continuing one until the ugly situation is reversed.

However, it is necessary to warn that in the course of this exercise, traders caught by the  special task force may lose their goods, suffer arrest, face prosecuti…

Crowd Welcomed Sowore At Muritala International Airport.

The premises of Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos was on Tuesday filled to the brim with jubilant crowd who thronged the airport to welcome the publisher of Saharareporters, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, as he arrived Nigeria to commence campaign for his 2019 presidential ambition.

Although, Mr. Sowore has not officially declare his intention to join the 2019 presidential race at home, he had been touring the European countries in the last four weeks seeking support from Nigerians in the diaspora.

The National Swan conferred on Governor Wike the position of Grand Patron.

The National Executive Committee of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has re-validated Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike as the sole patron of the association.

Also, the  Rivers State Chapter of SWAN  conferred on Governor Wike the position of Grand Patron.

Performing the re-validation of Rivers State Governor as Sole Patron of  SWAN on Wednesday at the Government House Port Harcourt , National President of SWAN, Mr Honour Sirawoo said that 19 out of the 22 members of the National Executive Committee voted in favour of the exercise.

He said that SWAN had to embark on the re-validation of Patrons, because many of her patrons are no longer functional.

"As it is this moment, Governor Wike is the only authentic SWAN Patron. What Governor Wike has done for sports development is fantastic.

"This is a call for greater  service to the association.  We rely on our patrons to play our role in sports development ", he said.
